MorphE - The Championship by shadowednavi MorphE - The Championship by shadowednavi
A sequel to the previous picture: [link]

except with A SHITTON MORE CHARACTERS.

I'm really happy with how this turned out for a few reasons. First, because it's a solid group shot (hopefully!) highlighting all the characters we've been growing attached to over the course of the past fourteen months playing this game. But second, and more importantly, I used this picture as profile practice. My goal was to emphasize the differences in each person's profile and facial structure. No two people have the same facial structure in real life, why should my drawings?

The main differences are in gender and race. I wanted to make sure all the males and females LOOKED male and female. Also, Asia is Indian. Nakayama is Japanese. Indian and Japanese people have slightly different features than caucasian people. I've found when drawing characters of a different race, one walks a very fine line between drawing a dark-skinned caucasian person, or an overexaggerated caricature of stereotypical _____ (insert race here) features. I know I still need a lot of work, but I'd like to say it was a pretty successful experiment. ^^

oh how it pains me to cut out all the context for this picture, so here. Have a lovely picture.

Drawn and colored with Copic markers (and the occasional prismacolor).

The best answer for this is actually that a lot of the elements of this will probably change a LOT by the time we get there. If you've ever played a tabletop game, you might know that certain things happen or become important, certain plot threads are lost, mostly because playing a game is narrative yes, but it's primarily a social experience. The plot of the game was great! But we knew when we started adapting it that in order to make the narrative better we'd be making a LOT of changes to make the plot and themes stronger. There have already been massive changes, and I expect by this point in the story many of the characters in this picture will be different, some added, some subtracted, some just very changed. But this is still a super cool picture, even if it's non-canon for the comic.

Haha unfortunately the context for this won't happen for a VERY long time, and many of the character designs have been slightly changed since I drew this picture. But right now, there are six characters here that have already been introduced. Keep checking back as more characters are introduced to the comic - I'm sure even with the altered character designs you'll be able to see some familiar faces :) thanks for looking!
