I blame the Prism concert.

I blame it entirely.

There is no other reason for this picture to exist.

...oh hey, it's a picture of Navi not getting the crap beaten out of her. 8D

Drawn and colored in Photoshop CS3 on Wacom tablet.

Just putting this out there, but her right hand is holding the bow all wrong. It should be more like she's holding a teacup rather than a coffee mug. The coffee mug is for larger French style Contrabass bows (not like I'd know anything about that or anything). Also the bow is too straight.

OK, now that the sardonic nitpicking is out of the way, I can get down to the real art. Wait... One last nitpick... The F holes aren't exactly in the right place. They're usually right next to the cutouts, and yours seem to be a little bit too low. Not a big deal, and probably fairly difficult to tell from the reference picture you used.

Lighting has always been a talent of yours, and adding sparkles to jewelry (especially the pendants on Navi and her sisters) have always been appreciated touches that draw the eye to a fairly small, yet important identifying part of all the characters. One little thing that my eye seems to be drawn to is her left forearm. It seems to be lit from a different angle than the rest of her, but it's not a glaring issue.

All previous nitpicking aside, you did excellent work with her hands. From what I hear, drawing good hands is a bitch and a half, not to mention getting them in proper position to play the violin (or any orchestral string instrument) is difficult at best to do in reality, much less while drawing it.

Your shading is impeccable, and goes hand in hand with the lighting.

The flow of her dress is very appealing and natural. And the details that went into it and her hair don't go unnoticed.

Very good my friend. Very good indeed.

PS... I love the way you shaded the violin to show wear on it from the oils of her hands. Changing the color from a faded wood by the neck and fingerboard to a deeper woodstain color by the bottom of the instrument. Excellent touch. Kudos to you on that barely-noticed detail only seen on often-played instruments.

I love the violin and the light off her pendant.

And, of course, seeing art from you~. :>

Why is she in 3rd position? Is there ever a reason to be in 3rd position?
Oh wait...it's a violin. Nevermind.

Nice picture. :3

Aye, that's what I get for going to Google image search for a reference 8D

And thanks :D I would have made it a viola, but this character's enough of a bitchy snob that I doubt she'd accept less than a violin.

The viola is not less, it's a 100000000000 times better then a crappy ass violin.
